LAN GARDEN Introduce
For residents and visitors in New South Wales seeking a taste of authentic, traditional Cantonese cuisine, particularly the health-focused art of double-boiled herbal soups, **LAN GARDEN** offers a unique dining experience right in the heart of Ultimo. This establishment is a dedicated restaurant aiming to bring nourishing, slow-cooked meals to the local community. It serves as a genuine culinary destination for those who appreciate the subtle, deep flavours and reputed health benefits associated with classic Chinese herbal preparations. LAN GARDEN provides a comforting, casual atmosphere perfect for a quick, restorative meal or a relaxing dine-in experience.
The focus here is heavily on the centuries-old method of double-boiling, a technique highly prized in Cantonese cooking. This method involves steaming the ingredients in a covered ceramic pot (often referred to as a "bain-marie" style equivalent by patrons) for many hours. This gentle process ensures the nutrients and essence of the herbs, meats, and vegetables are fully extracted into the broth, resulting in a clear, flavourful, and highly potent soup that is often regarded as medicinal and deeply nourishing. Patrons have noted that the soups remain true to the classic Cantonese herbal style, making it a rare find in the local dining scene, especially for those feeling 'a bit under the weather.'
The menu is centred around these spectacular soups but also includes a selection of satisfying main courses and delightful side dishes to complement the broth. The restaurant provides options for every need, whether you are looking for a comforting soup, a hearty rice or noodle dish, or a simple snack. It is an ideal spot for anyone working or living in the Ultimo area looking for an authentic and wholesome meal away from the bustle of the city.
The commitment to traditional preparation methods sets LAN GARDEN apart, offering a culinary experience that goes beyond mere dining and taps into a rich tradition of food as wellness. This focus on heritage and quality ingredients ensures that every dish served carries a touch of authentic Cantonese culinary wisdom.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had the soups and found them true to the classic cantonese herbal style! Especially good for us when we’ve feeling a bit under the weather; and it’s rare to find soups cooked in the traditional method (a bain-marie is the closest equivalent)The menu might benefit if it were reduced, but I hope the boss keeps going!
August 12 · Catherine ZhangI’m not sure what that is.. I ordered the pork ribs soup and rice for the total price $21… this shocked me.. the taste is so plain and one fungus mushroom and one small pork rib.. I had no word. It looks nothing like in a picture. That’s why the restaurant is very empty. One lady who can’t speak English is there even when I try to ask her, she has no idea what I say. It’s like I just paid for a bowl of water. No return
June 18 · Phurichaya YithongVery authentic and delicious. Really enjoy the delicate soup and the patty pork. Will be back with friends and family!
April 13 · Yonvi YThe food feels really good to eat. Tasty and authentic. The Mapo Tofu was hot and spicy, the Braised Pork was savory, the Sweet and Sour Pork was sweet. It all tasted great and I got better service despite a language barrier than from most other restaurants in Sydney.
July 10 · Helaman SungDelicious food and the staff there are so welcoming. Perfect spot away from traffic and noise. Lovely place to take the family for dinner.
